A Chia Pudding Recipe Noone Else Will Tell You

Did you know that prunes are a treasure chest of health benefits? They are high in fiber and hence help in digestion. They are also a great source of potassium which assists in a variety of bodily functions like heart rhythm, nerve impulses, muscle contractions and blood pressure. They contain lots of key vitamins and are a good source of iron. They also help build bones through the mineral boron contained in them. They help reduce cholesterol levels, blood pressure and appetite. They support a healthy gut microbiome and provide antioxidants. The list goes on and on.

And the icing on the cake? They are incredibly tasty. They have a gorgeous jammy texture that melts in your mouth and a delicate sweetness tempered by an earthy tang that’s irresistible. Not too sticky or sweet or sour or dry prunes are just the right balance of everything. They are one of the plumpest dry fruits out there.

Wouldn’t it be a shame if we don’t concoct a few interesting recipes with this amazing dried fruit?! That’s why we have come up with a prune recipe so good you’d have a foodgasm. We decided to pair prunes with yet another celebrated healthy food – chia seeds and bring into existence the most delectable dessert ever – Chia Pudding with Prunes. And guess what! It is so healthy that you can even have it first thing in the morning.

Here is the list of ingredients required to prepare this lip-smacking and drool-worthy chia pudding with prunes:

1 Ajfan dried pitted prunes
2. Orange zest

3. Chia seeds

4. Almond/soy milk

5. Cinnamon

6. Vanilla

7. Chopped hazelnuts

8. Bananas or any other fresh seasonal berries.

9. Maple syrup

First of all, put the Ajfan dried pitted prunes and orange zest into a bowl and pour boiling hot water onto them. Cover the bowl for five minutes and allow them to soak in the water. After that, drain and reserve around two tablespoons of the soaking water. Blitz the prunes and orange zest along with the water in a food processor until it is as smooth as silk.

Stir together the chia seeds, almond/soy milk, cinnamon, vanilla, maple syrup and prune puree. Cover it with a lid. Then, refrigerate overnight. In the morning, you can top it with banana slices and chopped hazelnuts. Or you can use any other seasonal berries for toppings.

Fun fact: A banana can be considered to be a berry and a strawberry, despite its name is not actually a berry. Neither is a blackberry or a raspberry. However, blueberries and cranberries are true botanical berries as are eggplants, oranges and grapes. Though people consider berries to be small, squishy fruits that can be easily picked off plants, the scientific classification is way more complex than one might imagine. The discrepancy in the nomenclature is because people called certain fruits ‘’berries’’ long before scientists made a clear definition of what a berry is.
